Christmas for the Edwards family and Cloth diapering
Christmas has such a different feeling now that we have kids. Nigel is 3 now and he is starting to understand that something special is happening. I took our tree down earlier this week and he keeps asking me where did it go. I tell him that it is gone and we will have another tree next Christmas and he always gets mad and says “it IS Christmas” lol. I really tried to make sure he knew that the reason for all the presents was to celebrate the birth of Christ. Grey doesn’t want to do Santa with our kids and coming from a childhood that did do Santa it feels really weird for me, but he has good reasons for us to not do Santa and I have to agree with them. I am still getting used to the idea. Nigel was kind of on sensory overload by Christmas day. He had been getting presents for 3 days : ) He especially loved his Powerwheel from Mimi and Granddaddy.

Berlin was not aware that anything new was going on and since she didn’t really need too much we got her 5 new BumGenius Diapers in the blossom color. We did BumGenius with Nigel, so we had white and green diapers from him. Grey asked me why she gets a special color when Nigel couldn’t have blue. I said “because she is a girl” : ) Since we already had some cloth diapers from Nigel we actually have not had to buy a single diaper for Berlin and I doubt we will not need to until we travel overseas. Between my nursing and the cloth diapers we are saving so much money!!
As far as cloth diapers go we have only tried the BumGenius and the gDiapers. I liked the gDiapers, but they are size specific, whereas the BumGenius are one-size-fits-all. If you are thinking about getting them I would strongly advise you to be extremely careful with washing them. Someone (will not name names lol) dried our white ones with a drier sheet and ever since they are not as waterproof : ( It is more work to do cloth diapers, but I feel it is worth it when you realize how much money you save over time. I also really feel that it helped Nigel with potty training. He was ready to tackle the potty before he was 2!
Overall it was a wonderful Christmas time. I am so blessed to have wonderful parents and I am so in love with my husband and children!
