Newest Baby Shoot with Berlin

I am really close to having a good set up at home to do portraits in a studio style. I am just crazy about babies. From the tiny toes, to the little rolls, to their little wobbly head : ) Berlin still can not sit up on her own which makes taking photographs of her in any position other than lying down a challenge. All in all the shoot didn’t go so well hahaha. Grey was trying to be a good helper, but we kept squabbling instead lol. Berlin has started to teethe and she was fussy the whole time and just wanted to chew her fingers and drool. Luckily my Mom came by and I had her help me too, so between the three of us it seems I was able to squeeze in a few shots before Berlin was ready for her nap.
Some of the pictures are taken with a new hat I made for her last week. Once I finish sewing the shoes to sell on Etsy I am going to make more hats like this one in different colors and sell them as well. It is too cute!! I love the little point in the back that makes her look like a pixie. And to tell the truth I really think she is magical!

Favorite Times of Our Day

One of the things that I want to share on my blog is to feature some of my favorite times of our day. Today I am sharing bath time with Nigel. He has always loved bath time and now that he is older it has become another version of playtime. He has all sorts of fun toys that he plays with and he loves to swim and play with the water. It is nice now that he is older that I can just let him play and not have to heavily supervise. It’s such a sweet time of imagination and adorableness : ) What is your favorite time of your day?

Taking the next step

As I have mentioned in some of my previous post, I am starting a photography business Kelly Edwards Photography. I am pleased to announce that today I am showing you my logo! I am also launching my Facebook page today! I have a very special shoot planned this weekend and I am excited to share the details on this blog and with my Facebook friends next week. I have been working very very hard behind the scenes establishing my business. I am so passionate about photography. God has created the most beautiful world and people and I love to stop and appreciate it all through photography. As any parent knows time flies and to me all the pictures I have represent a precious moment in time that I always want to remember. I am looking forward to this new journey and I can’t wait to share it here with you.

As if I thought starting a photography business wasn’t already keeping me very busy, I have also decided to officially open up an Etsy shop called “Hello my Lovely”. I have made the cutest little shoes and hats for Berlin and everywhere we go people stop me and tell me how cute they are. I am in the process of a mass production of shoes and hats and will have them up for sale early next week. My kitchen table is overflowing with adorable little shoe pieces right now : ) Wish me luck!

Love is in the air

My sister Heather and her boyfriend Sean are sooooo stinkin cute together! Sean is the lead singer and songwriter for the AMAZING band Onward Soldiers. Their new album is coming out next month and I got a early copy as a Christmas present and I seriously cannot stop listening!
I am hoping that other cutie couples will want to hire me as their photographer for their engagement or just to do a couples portrait.

You can check out the rest of their pictures on my photography site. If you have any feedback about the pictures please share! I really want to improve my skills : )

New Years at Fort Fisher

I had been kind of sad that we did not have any plans for New Years Eve. We have a new baby, so going out was not an option (not that we are really the “going out” kind). I just love to get dressed up and dance though, doesn’t every girl?? I was so happy then when my husband said that my sister and brother-in-law and their son were coming in to visit us for New Years weekend! I love them so much!!! Our New Years Eve was not too eventful, but it was still nice to be able to say “happy New Year” together. On New Years Day we journeyed to Fort Fisher to explore and enjoy the unusually warm and sunny day.

Photographs of Kathryn

My sister Kathryn agreed to be my model for the past couple weeks so I could work on giving directions for posing. She really was such a trooper! For both shoots I had the kids with me and they both were either crying or running around or just being a distraction all together. I am so glad we did the pictures though because I would love to be hired as a portrait photographer and it really was useful practice. Here are some of my favorites…

Christmas for the Edwards family and Cloth diapering

Christmas has such a different feeling now that we have kids. Nigel is 3 now and he is starting to understand that something special is happening. I took our tree down earlier this week and he keeps asking me where did it go. I tell him that it is gone and we will have another tree next Christmas and he always gets mad and says “it IS Christmas” lol. I really tried to make sure he knew that the reason for all the presents was to celebrate the birth of Christ. Grey doesn’t want to do Santa with our kids and coming from a childhood that did do Santa it feels really weird for me, but he has good reasons for us to not do Santa and I have to agree with them. I am still getting used to the idea. Nigel was kind of on sensory overload by Christmas day. He had been getting presents for 3 days : ) He especially loved his Powerwheel from Mimi and Granddaddy.

Berlin was not aware that anything new was going on and since she didn’t really need too much we got her 5 new BumGenius Diapers in the blossom color. We did BumGenius with Nigel, so we had white and green diapers from him. Grey asked me why she gets a special color when Nigel couldn’t have blue. I said “because she is a girl” : ) Since we already had some cloth diapers from Nigel we actually have not had to buy a single diaper for Berlin and I doubt we will not need to until we travel overseas. Between my nursing and the cloth diapers we are saving so much money!!
As far as cloth diapers go we have only tried the BumGenius and the gDiapers. I liked the gDiapers, but they are size specific, whereas the BumGenius are one-size-fits-all. If you are thinking about getting them I would strongly advise you to be extremely careful with washing them. Someone (will not name names lol) dried our white ones with a drier sheet and ever since they are not as waterproof : ( It is more work to do cloth diapers, but I feel it is worth it when you realize how much money you save over time. I also really feel that it helped Nigel with potty training. He was ready to tackle the potty before he was 2!
Overall it was a wonderful Christmas time. I am so blessed to have wonderful parents and I am so in love with my husband and children!

3 months and counting!

As of December 30th Berlin is now 3 months old! I know that everyone says that “it goes by fast” and it does, so I really have been trying to enjoy every little minute of every day. She is such a sweet girl! It is really fun to notice the differences between her and Nigel when he was that age. She seems to be a more “go with the flow” baby. She just loves to smile and take it all in. She has been growing so much that she is almost 16 pounds and fitting into size 6 month clothes! I don’t know what it is about our babies, but both Nigel and Berlin are really high in the height and weight percentiles. I was hoping with Berlin, since she is a girl, that she would stay little longer, but at least she is really healthy and growing : ) Babies really are a blessing from God and I feel so lucky that she will be my little girl forever!

Christmas time photo fun

I had the awesome privilege to photograph family Christmas photos for a super sweet family in early December. I have been friends with them for a long time (I have known them as long as I have known my husband) and one of my favorite things about them is how much they love the holidays! There beautiful house was full of cheery decorations and yummy treats fresh from the oven. They (like me) have two children and they are so precious!!

I really love taking pictures of babies and children. It is so great how they don’t feel as self aware as we do as adults. I adore the picture of little Airlie dancing in front of the tree.

Thanks again for letting me share in your Christmas-time fun!!

Still on my mind…

We came upon this guy playing the accordion while walking around central Munich. I wish I could have stayed and listened to him play all day! Even when I watch this video I am still amazed at his talent!
